Palo Santo has a long spiritual history. References to this tree date back to the Incan era, when it was used in rituals and ceremonies throughout Amazonia.

Palo Santo grows wild in the tropical dry forests of Ecuador, Peru and the Yucatán Peninsula in Mexico. It does not look particularly beautiful or impressive but what it offers is very rare, unusual and magical. Spanish monks who discovered the tree centuries ago, named it “palo santo” - “holy wood” or “the wood of the saints.”

Healers and shamans of South America believe that Palo Santo has a strong spirit that has to be treated with respect. The spirit continues to live in the wood long after the tree has fallen, and when treated properly, will assist in restoring your physical and energetic well-being. This is one of the reasons that properly harvested Palo Santo trees are never cut down, and the wood and essential oils can only be extracted no earlier than 3 years after the natural death of the tree.

Directions

• Diffusion: Use 2 to 3 drops straight or add with other desired essential oils. Diffusing may support air cleansing, create a calm atmosphere, help ease fatigue or nervous, anxious states, ease colds and other related afflictions, and help improve concentration and meditation.
• Steam inhalation: Add a few drops in steaming water. Wait a few minutes for the heat to dissipate (so as not to burn) and hover your face at 20 cm from the hot water and inhale/exhale 10 to 15 times.
• Dry Inhalation on your palms or wrists: Place a drop of this uplifting oil diluted in 4-5 drops of carrier oil in the palm of your hand or on your inner wrist and gently rub the palms/ wrists together, bring them towards your face and take a deep inhalation.
• Breathe the essential oil directly from the vial.
