Comfrey or Symphytum comes from the Greek word “syumphuo”meaning “to make grow together”, and has been known to herbalists for over 2,000 years. Comfrey is also known as 'knitbone' due to its seemingly miraculous ability to heal broken bones. Comfrey was standard issue in first aid packs during World War II due to its ability to speed up the healing of bones and wounds.

Comfrey contains allantoin and rosmarinic acid. Allantoin is able to accelerate cellular mitosis (meaning it speeds up the process of new tissue growth), while rosmarinic acid helps to relieve pain and inflammation. 

In most instances, comfrey compresses and ointments are used topically to facilitate the healing of bones and wounds.

Cosmos Healing's Comfrey Spray is made using comfrey root which is three times stronger than an extract made from comfrey leaves.
