This sacred Aya Rapé includes the ashes of the Banisteriopsis caapi vine which is the core ingredient of ayahuasca, a psychotropic plant tea used in the Amazon for ritual and medicinal purposes.

In traditional practices, Banisteriopsis caapi is viewed as a plant that bridges the gap between the physical and spiritual worlds. The word ayahuasca translates to “vine of the soul” in the Quechua language spoken by indigenous peoples in South America.

The caapi ashes, though not psychoactive, are highly valued for their grounding and centering effects during spiritual rituals. Just as Ayahuasca is used to guide participants through deep spiritual journeys, the caapi ashes are believed to offer protection. Indigenous shamans see the vine as a protector that helps individuals navigate difficult emotions and spiritual challenges, keeping negative energies at bay.

The Aya Rapé will assist in calming the mind, encouraging emotional balance, and supporting users as they engage in deep spiritual introspection.

Directions

  • Administer your rapé using a kuripe (a sacred pipe used to self administer medicinal rapé & herbal snuffs)
  • Place a pea sized amount of rapé on your left palm
  • Scoop half of the rapé into the long end of your kuripe
  • Take several deep breaths and set your intention(s)
  • Place the short end of the kuripe in your mouth and the long end in your left nostril and blow the rapé up your left nostril
  • You will always administer the left nostril first and the right nostril second as the left symbolises the past (that which you are letting go of) while the right nostril represents the future (that which you are calling in)
  • It is always beneficial to use the sacred pause between the two applications to contemplate that which you are letting go of / calling in
  • When ready, scoop the remaining rapé on your left palm into the long end of the kuripe and blow into your right nostril
  • Have a few tissues ready as you may experience some burning in the eyes and your nose might run a little bit
  • Sit quietly with your eyes closed and enjoy the beautiful calming and grounding sensation

The Tribe

The Noke Koi tribe are otherwise known as the Katukina or Catuquina, Katokina, Katukena, Katukino which are generic terms attributed to five linguistically distinct but geographically proximate indigenous groups that live in southwestern Brazil at the border of the Amazonas and Acre. The Katukina are very connected to the usage of sacred plants. They consider themselves as the first tribe to receive the Kambo medicine straight from the frog. They still carry a vast knowledge about plants and the spirit of the world. Their Rapé is strong and deep, and it carries the wild and powerful spirit of the jungle.
