How to Clean & Care for Your Enema Kit: A Guide to Longevity
Share
A good-quality enema kit is designed to be used again and again. With a little care, regular cleaning and the occasional replacement of individual components, there's no reason to replace an entire kit simply because one part has reached the end of its useful life.
At Cosmos Healing, we believe that quality products should be made to last. It reduces unnecessary waste, protects your investment and helps keep your enema practice clean, simple and hygienic.
Here's how to care for your Cosmos Healing Premium Enema Kit.
Clean your enema kit after every use
The simplest habit is also one of the most important: don't leave your enema kit sitting with residue inside it after use.
Once you've finished your enema, rinse the bag thoroughly, then wash with warm water and a mild natural soap such as Triple Orange All Purpose Wonder Gel.
Run the soapy water through the hose to clean the inside, then flush thoroughly with fresh water until all soap and residue have been removed.
This is particularly important when you've used coffee, herbs or another enema solution rather than plain water.
Give your kit a deeper clean
Alongside cleaning after each use, we recommend periodically giving your enema kit a more thorough clean.
After washing your kit with warm water and a mild natural soap, rinse thoroughly and spray the inside of the bag liberally with 3% hydrogen peroxide.
Add a small amount of warm water, then allow the solution to run through the hose. Turn the stopcock to hold the solution inside the hose, allowing the hydrogen peroxide to remain in contact with the internal surfaces rather than flowing straight through.
Afterwards, open the stopcock and flush the bag and hose thoroughly with fresh water to remove any remaining hydrogen peroxide. Allow the kit to dry completely before storing it.
Other options for deeper cleaning include organic apple cider vinegar, hypochlorous acid or chlorine dioxide.
Allow your kit to dry thoroughly
Once your kit is clean, hang the bag with the hose extended downwards and the stopcock open, allowing any remaining water to drain.
Leave the kit hanging until completely dry before storing it away. Ensuring that moisture doesn't remain trapped inside the bag or hose helps prevent mould and bacterial growth.
Discretely store your enema kit
The Cosmos Healing Premium Enema Kit comes with a hemp travel bag, making it easy to keep the components together between uses or while travelling.
Once your kit is completely dry, simple pack it away in your hemp travel bag until your next use.
Hemp is a naturally breathable fibre with inherent antimicrobial properties, making it a beautiful choice for storing your kit.
Inspect your kit as you clean it
Cleaning is also a useful opportunity to become familiar with the condition of your equipment.
Take a moment to look over the bag, hose, stopcock, non-return valve, nozzles and tips. If an individual component becomes damaged, deteriorated or difficult to keep satisfactorily clean, it may be time to replace that component.
And this is where choosing a reusable kit with replaceable parts becomes important.
You don't necessarily need a whole new enema kit
A worn component doesn't have to mean throwing away an otherwise perfectly functional kit.
We've made replacement parts available for the Cosmos Healing Premium Enema Kit specifically so that individual components can be refreshed when necessary.
Our Cosmos Healing Replacement Hose & Accessories includes a replacement 1.5m silicone hose, non-return valve, stopcock, metal hook, two colonic nozzles and three soft tips.
For those who only need fresh tips, our Cosmos Healing Replacement Tips x6 provides six soft and flexible reusable tips.
This allows you to replace what you need rather than unnecessarily replacing the entire kit.
Why reusable matters
Disposable products can be convenient, but they also create waste.
A well-made reusable enema kit offers a different approach: care for it, maintain it, replace individual components when needed and continue using the parts that remain in good condition.
Our Cosmos Healing Premium Enema Kit is made with a medical-grade silicone 2-litre bag and reusable components, with replacement parts available to help extend its useful life.
It's a small example of a philosophy we value deeply at Cosmos Healing: choosing quality, caring for what we have and consuming more consciously.
A simple routine makes all the difference
Caring for your enema kit doesn't need to become complicated.
Wash thoroughly after each use. Deep clean periodically. Allow every component to dry completely. Store it carefully. Inspect it from time to time. And when an individual part eventually needs replacing, replace the part rather than the whole.
A few simple habits can help keep your kit clean, fresh and ready for your next practice - while extending its lifespan for as long as possible.
Clean tools support a calm, confident practice.
